Pope Leo XIV thanks the faithful for their prayers, as well as the doctors, nurses, and staff who cared for him at Gemelli Hospital. He says the experience made him feel closer to those facing serious illness.
The pope says he will gradually resume his activities, but noticeably did not mention his trip to South America, planned for November 6–17.

I want to express my gratitude to all those who have prayed for me over the past few days. I have truly felt your support. Thank you! In particular, I express gratitude to doctors, nurses, and all the staff at Gemelli Hospital. This experience has made me feel especially close to those who are going through illness or dealing with serious health difficulties. Having overcome this delicate phase, as you know, I will now gradually resume my activities, always with God's help and your prayers.
