The Salve Regina filled the streets of Madrid and Cibeles Square as Pope Leo XIV concluded the Corpus Christi procession with 1.2 million Spanish faithful. The Latin hymn to Our Lady was sung to honor Holy Mary of the Almudena in particular.
Holy Mary of the Almudena is the patron saint of the capital of Spain. A statute of her and the Child Jesus is venerated in the Almudena Cathedral, which was consecrated by Pope St. John Paul II in 1993.
