On Sunday, Pope Francis will visit an area affected by the 2016 earthquakes. This is Camerino. It is a small town with 7,000 inhabitants in the center-north of the Italian peninsula. Out of these, 3,500 are still living in temporary homes.

The pope will first visit these temporary houses. He is scheduled to arrive by helicopter at 8:45 a.m. local time.

He will also visit the cathedral and then celebrate Mass in the city's main square at 10:30 a.m. The pope will then have lunch with the priests of the area. He is scheduled to take a helicopter back to Rome at 3:00 p.m.

This is not the first time Pope Francis has visited people affected by earthquakes. The most emotional encounter was in January 2017 with the inhabitants of Amatrice. A few months earlier, an earthquake had claimed the lives of almost 300 people in their town.

POPE FRANCIS
“Begin again, yes, but begin again without having lost the ability to dream. ”

In addition to Amatrice, Pope Francis also visited Accumoli and Carpi, where they are still recovering from a earthquake in 2012.
