What Pope Francis has to say about the importance of volunteering

St. Therese of Lisieux reminds Christians that “nothing is small in the eyes of God. Do all that you do with love.” Leading by example, Pope Francis has shown that little acts of kindness can go a long way.

For this reason, he has highlighted the importance of volunteering, and has met with different volunteer groups on numerous occasions. Most recently, he held this private audience for those who assist cancer patients.

"'Good' is accomplished and is effective especially when it is done without seeking recompense and visibility, in the concrete situations of daily life.”

At World Youth Days in both Brazil and Poland, he also did not forget to thank the young men and women who made it possible, and emphasized the importance of their role.

"This is the most beautiful service we can give as missionary disciples. To prepare the way so that all people may know, meet and love the Lord. FLASH I say: May you always be generous with God and with others: one loses nothing thereby, but gains great enrichment in life.”

Also in Brazil, he expressed that to be at the service of others is also a part of a Christian's duty

“I ask you to build the future. Make the world a better place. Please don't see life from afar. Live it. Jesus didn't stay out in a balcony. Instead, He got involved. Follow Jesus' example.”

For those ready to heed the words of the Holy Father's, he himself is a shining of example to follow.
