“Kyrios Emmanuel” is a rock group made up of six Argentinians. It was founded in 1992 as part of BANUEV, the Catholic community that seeks to contribute to the New Evangelization through art.

They have participated in several WYDs. However, for them the most special was in Krakow. This is because they recorded the Spanish version of the official anthem “Blessed are the Merciful,” together with the BANUEV community.

CARLOS ABREGÚ
Composer and Guitarist of “Kyrios Emmanuel”
“We have been in many World Youth Days and with three popes. These popes were John Paul II, Benedict XVI and now Pope Francis. We have gone to Rome, Cologne, Madrid, Rio, Krakow and Panama. They are places of great blessing and unforgettable moments in our lives.”

Along with their catchy melodies and lyrics they want to reach a lot of people. Especially young people who are not Christians or do not practice.

JUAN IGNACIO STRAMUCCI
Bassist of “Kyrios Emmanuel”
“The themes we explore in our songs is to transmit values, to transmit our faith. We are trying to reach the peripheries, those that Pope Francis often asks of us. We try to do this through our songs to a public that is not 100 percent Catholic. We want evangelize through these experiences that young people can identify with.”

Now they are waiting for WYD in Lisbon. They hope to participate in the pope's encounter with young people.

LUCIANO BASÍLICO
Guitarist of “Kyrios Emmanuel”
“The idea is to attend the World Youth Day in Lisbon. It is an excellent opportunity to meet Catholic artists and friends. It is also another opportunity to meet people and share our art.”

During the rest of the year, they want to finish their new album in order to present it in 2020; and to do a tour of Latin America to prepare for their seventh WYD.
