His name is Alex Campos. He is one of the winners of the 13 Latin Grammys that Colombia took home in the 2020 edition. He says that his melodies are inspired by one name.
My message is Jesus. I could sing of love, but He is love. I could sing of hope, but He is hope. Singing about Him brings all these things together in a special way. Today, more than ever, I strive to bring God's love through my music. I want to bring people closer, not to the religious, but to a personal relationship with God.
I encountered music and music became my tool, in my language, to communicate with God. For many, music offers other things, but for me music is the tool with which I can connect in a very special way to God and it has to do with faith. So I thank God for giving us music, an element that connects us with Him when we do it with the heart.
He says that being the first Colombian to win the best Christian album at the Latin Grammy Awards is an encouragement to continue creating melodies that truly touch people's hearts.
It means that we are still making history, we are still writing history. This is not for ourselves, we are marking history on God's behalf for our lives, that we are helpful and that we are doing things right. I think that knowing that we are on the right track, and that our music is still important and relevant is a blessing.
Alex makes music a way of life to carry hope, especially during this time of pandemic. He considers this recognition as a responsibility to keep sharing God's message to the world.
