The Pope's meeting with Lebanon's Christian leaders began at his residence, Casa Santa Marta at 8:30 a.m.

The first to greet the Pope was Maronite patriarch, Cardinal Boutros Rai.

Then Catholicos Aram I of the Armenian Church of Cilicia.

-Good morning. How are you?
-Fine.
-You alright?... Thank you. I'm very happy to be here.

After greeting everyone, they left Casa Santa Marta and entered St. Peter's Basilica.

The basilica was practically empty. Everyone sat in front of the main altar. There, Pope Francis led the prayer that unites all Christians: The Lord's Prayer.

Lebanon's Christian leaders joined him.

They prayed in Arabic and then spent some moments in silent prayer.

Then they walked down the stairs to the crypt where St. Peter's tomb is. There they lit a candle.

It was with this sober and prayerful mood that the representatives of the Christian Churches in Lebanon began their meeting for peace in their country.

They will hold three meetings in the Vatican Apostolic Palace today and conclude the day in St. Peter's Basilica.
