The latest statistics from Agenzia Fides show the trend in the number of Catholics, priests, religious and missionaries around the world.
According to this data, the number of Catholics, almost 1.4 billion worldwide, has increased by about 15 million compared to the previous year. However, the world percentage of Catholics decreased by 0.01%.
As for priests and nuns, there has been a sharp drop of about 4,000 and 10,000 respectively.
Another noteworthy fact is the number of lay missionaries, which is about 3,000 more than in previous years. Worldwide, there are already more than 410,000 lay missionaries, mainly in Africa and Asia.
