As vaccines against Covid-19 are beginning to circulate around the world, the Vatican Covid-19 Commission and the Pontifical Academy for Life have published a joint-document titled “Vaccine for all. 20 points for a fairer and healthier world.”

In the document, the Vatican reiterates its stance that “all clinically recommended vaccinations can be used with a clear conscience and that the use of such vaccines does not signify some sort of cooperation with voluntary abortion.”

At the same time however, the Vatican calls states, pharmaceutical companies and global health organizations to develop vaccines with “no connection in [their] preparation to any material originating from an abortion.”

Finally, the Vatican asserts its goal to make the Church a leader “at the service of 'healing the world'” and ensuring “that quality vaccines and treatments are available to the global family, especially the vulnerable,” who have been disproportionately affected by the health crisis and resulting economic challenges.
